BURIED? NO. PLANTED. I'M GOING TO BLOOM. WATCH ME!

5:58 AM, again

Part 2 of 2

Week 2, Tuesday, I wake up at 6:03 AM, look at my vision board, and continue making that sugar-honey-iced-tea happen!

5:58 AM

Part 1 of 2

The day after I was severed, my smartphone’s ‘Playtime’ alarm tone woke me up at 5:58 AM ET. But today, I had no one to meet, no place to be, and nothing to do for the company.

Proper Sweetness

L'Adresse - Bryant Park

Here is the review I shared on opentable.com: Always a great experience at L’Adresse 👌🏾 it was my husband’s first time, though. Marie served us exceptionally well. The cocktails were good. I had the Salmon with Gochujang rice. The bokchoy was a bit too cooked and heavy with citrus, but the salmon and the rice made the overall experience of the dish good. My husband wiped his chicken dinner plate clean. Now, the dessert - oh my wow! We ordered two that I knew from previous visits were great, and they did not disappoint: Rake and Chocolate Envy. They were scrumptious. Then Marie gifted us another treat for us to try, Kimura. Goodness... It was the perfect, sweet ending to a lovely dinner date night. I highly recommend L’Adresse Bryant Park - the food is excellent, the service and cakes/desserts are to die for, and the atmosphere is relaxed and happy.

A CHANGE MADE TO ME

July 2022

My tenure ended at my previous place of employment. Ahead of that week, I was honored to become acquainted with so many generous people and engaging forums for job seekers. As a result, I feel energized and hopeful! Happy to mention here: EMPOWER Legal Group (Irene Bassock), Executive Talent Services (John Madigan) and Jewish Employment Transition Services (JETS).

TRIED A NEW BREW

Heard about this on LinkedIn podcast: Brown Table Talk

I am absolutely in love with this Vietnamese pour-over coffee, Copper Cow Coffee. It is dark and delicious. I tried a 10-pack and then subscribed, I had to. It was so good!

These words pour out of me

...I am staring at my manager’s face as he recites a crafted-to-avoid-litigation release statement that I do not hear. At a point early in his talk, eight words arrested my auditory function. First, my brain tripped and fell when I heard, “We do not need a ‘‘Head of’’ position.” Next, my heart heard, “They do not need me.” Finally, my heart screams incredulously, “What?!”

I recall that scene in Titanic when Rose says to Jack, "I won't let you go," and then she does.

DO YOU KNOW, WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO?

My younger son is also beginning his own journey of discovery

The Southern Connecticut State University coach invited my son to tour the school and learn more about their diving program. I was there as the Uber driver, but it was lovely to see him navigate the campus and raise great questions.

I suppose this is how it must feel to dive

WHERE DO I PREFER TO WORK?

It's been interesting to hear most recruiters ask this

I prefer to work where my work is valued and contributes to the success of the people I work with and the organization that employs us. I have worked in a multitude of spaces, states and countries.

  • As a management consultant, I had no specific desk space at the companies where I consulted. I worked in the airport lounge and on the plane while in transit. I was happy to work from conference rooms, war rooms, and random desks 'out of the way' or in the middle of everything.
  • I hoteled, that is, I signed up for cube/desk on demand in work-share spaces.
  • I worked from home for many years since my customers and colleagues were all over the continental United States.
  • I have experienced all kinds of desks: palatial cubicles with wood furnishings, Steelcase utility setups, two by four foot-no partition: "Hello Mate!" Sit/Stand desks, ergonomically correct chairs, horrible-for-my-neck-and-back chairs, open space, community space, and so on.
  • We cannot forget the pandemic zoom meetings and breakout rooms with the global team.
  • And I have spent time at the home office with my husband and son as home-office colleagues.

Every place has been great. Regarding preference, I would say: hybrid: I want the flexibility to work where I produce excellent outcomes. Sometimes it will be in an office, and sometimes not. Yes, I prefer a mix.
